Lithuania's first PM Prunskiene gets Kazakhstan's state award

Former and the first prime minister of independent Lithuania, Kazimira Prunskiene has received a high state award from the Republic of Kazakhstan – second degree order of Dostik (Friendship), informs LETA/ELTA.
The honourable award was given to Prunskiene by a decree of President Nursultan Nazarbayev for her fruitful activities in promoting unity in society, her substantial contribution to peace and friendship strengthening and promotion of cooperation between Lithuania and Kazakhstan.
Due to Prunskiene's fragile health the award ceremony took place in her home village in Svencionys region in eastern Lithuania.
Kazakhstan's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Latvia and Ambassador to Lithuania Baurzhan Mukhamedzhanov, members of Lithuania's first Government after the independence restoration, heads of the Lithuanian People's Party and Prunskiene's family took part in the ceremony.
Three years ago Prunskiene suffered a serious stroke.
