Yesterday, Liepaja Symphony Orchestra started its concert tour of Latvia, as Uldis Lipskis, member of the board, informed in a press conference.

Lipskis said that this season Liepaja Symphony Orchestra will not have many concerts because it will mainly concentrate on new recordings, informs LETA.

The orchestra is also eagerly awaiting the completion and the grand opening of the new concert hall in Liepaja ("Lielais dzintars").

In its concerts, the orchestra will be premiering works from several Latvian composers, such as Vilnis Smidbergs and Juris Karlsons. Also, a musical project for children, based on a fairytale by the late great poet Imants Ziedonis, is also on the bill.

The orchestra will perform not only in Latvia, but in other countries as well, like Denmark, India and China.

Its Riga concert will be November 18 (Latvia's Independence Day) in "Ziemelblazma" Community Center.

December 20, the musicians will depart for China, where between 8-12 concerts will be heard in cities along the eastern seaboard.
