Other events in Baltic States

On Tuesday, 15 July, the Lithuanian Armed Forces and the Palace of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania will commemorate the victory in the Battle of Grunwald (Zalgirio Musis), informs LETA/ELTA.

The Palace of the Grand Dukes invites visitors to see exhibitions, creative workshops and educative games. A screening of the film Zinomas Nezinomas Zalgiris (The Known Unknown Zalgiris) will take place.

In the afternoon, in the courtyard of the palace, the brotherhood Viduramziu Pasiuntiniai (Medieval Emissaries) and soldiers of the Honour Guard Company will demonstrate medieval weapons and armour to visitors.

In the evening the battle will be commemorated in Vilnius Cathedral Square. The Honour Guard Company will take part, historic cannon will be fired by the General Romualdas Giedraitis Artillery Battalion, the brotherhood Medieval Emissaries will re-enact the fight between Lithuanian soldiers and the Teutonic Knights, mounted police will also appear wearing ancient soldier outfits.

The historic victory in the Battle of Grunwald on 15 July 1410 stopped the invasion of the Teutonic Knights into Lithuania.
