From July 18-21, the Ellerhein Girls’ Choir will perform at the 31st International Cantonigrósi Music Festival taking place in the city of Vic in Catalonia, Spain, followed by a concert tour to Andorra and various Spanish cities, the Estonian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

After the festival program has ended the choir will head to Andorra, where on July 22 a concert will be given in the church of Andorra’s patron saint Our Lady of Meritxell (Santuari de Nostra Senyora de Meritxell), writes LETA.

On July 24, a concert will be given in the great hall of the Madrid Royal Conservatory and on July 25 in the hall of the Burgos New Conservatory. The latter concert will also kick off Estonian Days in Burgos, within the framework of which two exhibits on Estonia will be displayed and tourism and business diplomacy seminars will take place.

Ambassador Toomas Kahur expressed hope that the good and friendly ties between Estonia and Spain would become even closer on the practical level through cultural exchange. "Estonia and Spain work together closely in both the European Union and NATO. We share the same values and our national positions are either the same or very similar. We hope to reduce the geographical distance people perceive between our countries through cultural projects," the ambassador said, speaking about the Ellerhein concerts.

The initiator and main organiser of the concert tour is the Estonian Embassy in Spain. Its co-operation partners are Estonian Honorary Consul in Andorra Antoni d’Ortodó, the Madrid Royal Conservatory, the Provincial Government of Madrid, the Madrid Society of Friends of Music, and the Burgos European Union Association. Sponsors that have helped to make the concert tour possible are two Spanish companies active in Estonia, Bigbank and the design textile manufacturer and distributor Kuks&Küttner.
