History buffs re-enacted 1941 battle at Saaremaa

On Sunday, a 1941 battle was re-enacted on the dyke connecting the islands of Saaremaa and Muhu, in the course of which German troops forced their way from the Island of Muhu to Saaremaa, writes LETA/National Broadcasting.
The event was organised by the Saaremaa Military Assets Society and attending were more than 50 members of military history clubs from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Russia.
In 1941, the battle lasted for approximately an hour, but the re-enactment lasted for a couple of dozen minutes.
“It was more or less similar. The truth is, the battle did not last long. In an hour and 15 minutes, the first Germans had already invaded Orissaare,” explained Margus Sinimets, the chairman of the Saaremaa Military Assets Society.
