Today marks exactly 25 years since the survival of the historic break changing not only our fate, our children and of Lithuania but also the world map. Patriotism that used to unite Lithuanians a quarter century ago, sometimes seems to be pale and sunken in everyday life. Lithuanian reform movement Sajudis and the founder of the steering group Zigmas Vaisvila remembers inner experiences of the reform movement steering group in 1988 June 3, informs LETA/ELTA.

"There were many young people in the organization, at that time I was 31 years old. At the beginning it was very difficult to understand everything because the access to information was not like today. However, the youth was the driving engine of Sajudis, the majority of whom were also faces of Lithuanian research institute. They all dove into the enthusiasm of the movement. What I remember very well is strong confidence in each other", said Vaisvila.

Lecturer at Vilnius University Romas Sakadolskis, a former manager of Lithuanian shows on the radio Amerikos Balsa says that Sajudis movement built the house – state but its residents has not come close into political community yet. "Many in Sajudis believed that after the restoration of the independence everything will change radically. But nothing has changed radically. Nothing has changed even after the events in January 1991. Because the State is not just the territory it is also the coexistence of citizens. Soon Lithuanian citizens started to vote with their feet, leaving their massive country, " said Sakadolskis.
