Lithuania's Algirdas Paleckis has been crossed out from the list of state awarded people. Lithuanian president Dalia Grybauskaite signed a relevant decree following a proposal by the Council for the State Awards and under the Law on State Awards, informs LETA/ELTA.

Paleckis was crossed out because his deeds degraded the name of bearer.

He was sentenced for denying Soviet aggression. The court's verdict is mandatory and not subject to appeal. Paleckis said that "people fired at their own people" during January 13 events in Lithuania.

Paleckis was given the Cross of the Knight of the Order for Merits to Lithuania back in 2004 by the decree of acting president Arturas Paulauskas.
