The Chapter of Orders has decided to bestow the First Class Cross of Merit to Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko and the First Class Order of the Three Stars to his spouse Kateryna Yushchenko-Chumachenko for meritorious service benefiting Latvia, writes LETA.

Second Class Order of the Three Stars will be awarded to Ukraine's Economy Minister Bohdan Danylyshyn, Deputy Director of Ukrainian President's Secretariat Andiry Goncharuk, Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Minister Volodymyr Ohryzko and Ukrainian Transport Minister Yosyp Vinskiy.

The Third Class Order of the Three Stars will be bestowed to Mayor of Kiev Leonid Chernovetsky, Ambassador of Ukraine in Latvia Raul Chilachava, Ukrainian President’s Office Chief Ruslan Demchenko and the First Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Volodymyr Khandogiy.

Also several Third Class Crosses of Merit will be awarded to Ukrainian officials for meritorious service benefiting Latvia: to Latvian Honorary Consul in Odessa Olena Alyeksyenko, Latvian Honorary Consul in Lviv Volodimyr Garcula, Director of Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry's Second Territorial Administration Igor Grushko and Ukrainian Foreign Affairs Ministry's Deputy Head of State Protocol Igor Slenzak.

Ukrainian poet and translator from Latvian language Yuriy Zavgorodniy will be awarded the Fourth Class Cross of Merit.

As reported, President Valdis Zatlers is currently on a state visit in Ukraine.
