Director of Latvian National Theater Alfreds Jaunusans died

Print versionOn June 24, the Latvian theater world lost one of its great stars – longtime National Theater director and actor Alfreds Jaunusans. He was 89 years of age.
Jaunusans joined the National (then called Drama Theater) company in 1947, became a director in 1963, and was artistic director from 1966 to 1987, informs LETA.
His direction of the Edvards Vulfs' comedy "Sensation" in the 2004/2005 season was his last production.
Jaunusans also lit up the motion picture screen in a number of character roles.
He was awarded Latvia's Order of the Three Stars in 1995.
