In July number of visitors from Lithuania, Estonia and Finland increased significantly in Latvia

Accordingly data of the Central Statistical Bureau, in July 2020 the number of foreign and resident visitors comprised 298.9 thousand, which is 25.3% less than in July 2019. As compared to July of the previous year, the number of nights spent by visitors has reduced by 30.5% and comprised 545 thousand nights.

As on 10 June the emergency situation ended and large part of tourist accommodation establishments resumed their activity, also in July the number of visitors continued to increase rapidly – compared to June, it rose more than twice.




In July 2020, compared to July of the previous year, the number of resident visitors in tourist accommodation establishments increased by 1.9 %, reaching 133.1 thousand. The number of nights spent by residents comprised 236 thousand, which is a drop of 4.9%.


In July 2020 the number of foreign visitors comprised 165.9 thousand, which is 38.5% less than in July 2019. Number of nights spent by them comprised 309 thousand – a drop of 42.4%. However, compared July of the last year, the number of visitors from Lithuania (by 67.7%), Estonia (by 65.1%) and Finland (by 44%) has increased significantly.




In July 96.8% of respondents submitted report on the activity of accommodation establishments, of which 5.5% of respondents (in July 2019 – 3%) answered that they did not carry out activity mentioning as a reason downtime, improvements or repair of accommodation.
