TEO LT to offer 300 Mbps Internet connection
Lithuania-based telecommunications company TEO LT will begin offering its ZEBRA Internet access service at up to 300 Mbps from May 16, 2011, Broadband TV News reports.

TeliaSonera first to launch 4G in Lithuania
TeliaSonera has launched the first commercial 4G / LTE service in Lithuania and to customers in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipeda, Siauliai and Panevezys, the company said in its press release. The 4G network is one of the first networks in the world to use the 1800 MHz frequency. TeliaSonera continues the 4G network rollout in Lithuania during 2011.
Lithuania ahead of many European countries in terms of Internet access in households
The survey conducted by the market research and public opinion company Baltijos Tyrimai revealed that almost seven in ten adult Lithuanian residents have used the Internet during the past year, and two thirds of households have access to the Internet.

Information technology (IT), in a general sense, as well as innovations and research are within the main guidelines of the EU-2020 Strategy. However, the European Union’s IT policy is much broader in the context and includes numerous “communication issues”; hence the notion of information and communication technology (ICT). Some of the ICT issues are in the Commission within the Enterprise & Industry DG, others in Research & Innovation as well as in the Information Society with the EU Digital Agenda. Thus, at least three commissioners are involved in the Union’s ICT issues.
