BC, Riga, 17.09.2020.Print version
Norwegian low-costs airline Norwegian Air Shuttle (Norwegian) will open an international service center in Riga, LETA learned from the Latvian Investments and Development Agency.

Norwegian Air Resources Latvia office will operate the airline worldwide, abandoning several outsourcing activities.

Norwegian has already announced the first job vacancies in the new office. Recruitment will continue this year and next year. The total number of employees needed will depend on the situation in the sector.

The company's vice-president Knut Olav Hoeg said that the decision on opening the office in Riga is strategical. "Centralizing support functions, we will improve the quality of our services and operations. Customers will be able to communicate with our own staff members instead of outsourced employees," he said.

Economics Minister Janis Vitenbergs (KPV LV) said that Norwegian has assessed Latvia as an appropriate location for business service center. "We have been working on improving the environment for several years in order to attract foreign investors, and Norwegian's choice proves that we are heading in the right directions. Business service centers are one of our investments priorities as the sector has a huge growth potential," the minister said, adding that Latvia is able to offer well-educated employees with good language knowledge.

Norwegian was founded in 1993 but began operating in 2002.
