EU – Baltic States, Good for Business, Tourism, Transport

According to Michal Leman, FlixBus managing director in Poland, the Baltic countries and Ukraine, the company planned to enter the Baltic market in the first half of 2020 but those plans had to be revised due to the coronavirus pandemic and the aspiration to create a transport network.

“We initially planned to launch our coach service in the first half of this year but we are starting one week later. The main reason was the pandemic but we also wanted to create our first network, which we have in Poland and Germany, in order to adapt it to passengers arriving from the Baltic countries,” he said at a news conference.

“With the opening of coach lines in Riga, Tallinn, Kaunas or Vilnius, we connect those cities with a certain network, with towns on the way to Warsaw or Berlin, which makes it possible to travel all across Europe – to go to Spain, Southern Italy, the United Kingdom, Croatia or elsewhere with just one stop,” he added.

FlixBus has designed five routes: Riga-Warsaw, Kaunas-Warsaw, Riga-Kaunas-Lomza-Warsaw, Tallinn-Riga-Warsaw and Vilnius-Warsaw-Berlin. In Lithuania, these routes will also cross Panevezys, Druskininkai, Marijampole and Siauliai.

FlixBus offers 400,000 daily connections to over 2,500 locations in 29 European countries.
