airBaltic to launch more flights on Riga-Tbilisi route

For the summer season, which will begin in late March, airBaltic introduces an additional Riga–Tbilisi flight on Saturday afternoons.
The new additional flight will commence on April 4, 2020. In total, airBaltic will operate up to eight flights weekly between Riga and Tbilisi, aiming to increase the capacity on the route by 8 percent this year.
Briede said that airBaltic traffic to Tbilisi continues to grow each year. In 2019, airBaltic carried 26% more passengers than in 2018. Around two-thirds of all passengers travelling to and from Tbilisi with airBaltic have chosen Riga as a convenient transfer hub. Most popular connections are among others two other Baltic capitals Tallinn and Vilnius, Nordic capitals Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Helsinki, as well as Amsterdam, London among others.
In total, airBaltic will add 14 new routes to its summer season 2020 route map. Thus, airBaltic will commence direct flights from Tallinn to Rome, Zurich, Hamburg and Nice. Besides, airBaltic announces the introduction of five new direct routes from Vilnius to Hamburg, Zurich, Gothenburg, which will start operations in late March, as well as Dubrovnik and Rijeka, which will begin in May. This year, airBaltic will also launch new flights from Riga to Manchester (United Kingdom), Yerevan (Armenia), Bergen and Trondheim (both Norway) as well as Yekaterinburg (Russia).
As reported, airBaltic flew 5,049,317 passengers in 2019, which is an increase of 22.1 percent against a year before.
airBaltic serves over 70 destinations from Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius.
The airline's primary shareholder is the Latvian state, which holds 80.05% of the stock, while Danish businessman Lars Thuesen holds around 20% through his fully-owned Aircraft Leasing 1.
