Lithuania's wholesale electricity prices remain high

Lithuania's wholesale electricity prices edged down by 1 percent on average last week compared to a week ago and remain at a stable high level, Litgrid said LETA/BNS.
Electricity prices in Nord Pool's Lithuanian bidding area averaged 52.7 euros per megawatt-hour on December 7-13. Y-o-y, the average price surged by 36%, the power transmission system operator said.
Prices in both Latvia and Estonia moved down by 1%, too, to 51.6 euros per MWh.
As temperatures dropped, Lithuania's power consumption increased by 2% w-o-w to 267 gigawatt-hours (GWh). The country's domestic production rose by 3% to 137 GWh, covering 51% of its electricity needs.
