Estonia ran EUR 31 mln current account deficit in March
The current account of Estonia was in deficit by 31 million euros in March 2020, according to a flash estimate published by the Bank of Estonia on May 14th, informs LETA/BNS.
In March, foreign trade turnover in Latvia decreased by 5.1%
Provisional data of the Central Statistical Bureau show that in March 2020 the foreign trade turnover of Latvia amounted to EUR 2.42 billion, which at current prices was 5.1% less than a year ago, of which the exports value of goods dropped by 0.7%, but imports value of goods – by 8.4%. In March, Latvia exported goods in the amount of EUR 1.1 billion, but imported – in the amount of EUR 1.32 billion. Compared to March 2019, foreign trade balance has improved slightly as exports in total foreign trade amount increased from 43.4% to 45.4%.
In Q1, exports declined by 3% and imports by 4% in Estonia
According to Statistics Estonia, in March 2020, compared to March 2019, the exports of goods decreased by 1% and imports by 2%. Compared to the first quarter of 2019, exports declined by 3% and imports by 4%. In the first quarter, trade decreased mostly due to declined exports and imports of electrical equipment and mineral products.

Lithuania's exports shrank by 0.5% in January-March 2020 from a year earlier to 7.053 billion euros, and its imports were down by 3.3% to 7.348 billion euros, the country's statistics office said on May 8th, cites LETA/BNS.

Latvia: In 2019, the highest harvested production of grain was recorded
Provisional data of the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that in 2019 the highest harvested production of grain was recorded – 3.2 mln t, which is 1.1 mln t or 1.5 times more than a year ago. The average grain yield per one hectare reached 42.6 ql., which is the second highest grain yield in the history of Latvia (44.9 ql. were harvested in 2015). Exports of grain reached the record amount as well – 2.8 mln t or EUR 518 mln.

In the first ten months of 2019, Latvia exported EUR 2.189 bn worth of forestry products, which is an decrease of 1 % against the same period a year ago, according to information released by the Agriculture Ministry writes LETA.
