Lithuania's State Tax Inspectorate has for the first time realized confiscated cryptocurrency, transferring 6.4 million euros to the state budget, writes LETA/BNS.

Eesti Pank has launched a multi-year project in collaboration with the technology companies Guardtime and The SW7 Group to research how technologically suitable the Estonian e-government core technology is for operating a central bank digital currency, Eesti Pank informed.
For some time now, we hear regular talk of the digital euro European central banks should have in the digital era. Moreover, it even sounds seemingly self-evident. However, the creation of a new form of money should not be an objective in itself, but it must serve the overarching goal of creating a more convenient, versatile, secure and risk-resilient "money service" for exchanging goods and services in the economy.
The Board of the Bank of Lithuania has approved the sample of the physical version of the digital collector coin – an original silver coin bearing a denomination of EUR 19.18 to commemorate the year of the Act of Independence of Lithuania. LBCOIN is dedicated to this prominent Act and its 20 signatories.
It is important for central banks to get involved in handling cryptoassets and other new virtual payment systems, Bank of Latvia Governor Martins Kazaks said in an interview with LETA, adding that the emergence of a digital euro is just a matter of time.
