Eesti Raudtee: Rail Baltica wouldn’t work without Finland and Poland

Creating a joint venture for developing Rail Baltica will be discussed at the meeting of Estonian, Latvian and Lithuanian transport ministers next week in Riga.
"The economies of the three Baltic States are relatively small in the European context and these three states are not enough as starting or target countries to guarantee Rail Baltica sufficient cargo volume," said Asmann.
Asmann says that with Rail Baltica, it has to be focused on the question of how to commercialize it in reality and that the joint venture can work on that.
"At the moment Rail Baltica is in the stage of a vision, there is an approximate evaluation to the possible costs, an initial analysis has been compiled on how much cargo or passengers could move in that direction but there is little that is solid, there are no firm operators who would say that they want to transport their cargo there," he said.
