Latvia understands Lithuania's seek to join its capital Vilnius to the route of railway Rail Baltica. This position was expressed by Latvia's Prime Minister Laimdota Straujuma on her visit to Lithuania, informs LETA/ELTA.

The Latvian prime minister also noted that it was essential to prepare the project by 2016.
After the meeting between the Latvian and Lithuanian prime ministers, Butkevicius noted that their discussion focused mostly on Rail Baltica project.
As reported, Lithuania seeks that the track from Kaunas to Vilnius would be financed by the EU. Meanwhile, Estonia expressed its doubt on it.
