Lithuania's carries disagree with restrictions of fuel import

BC, Vilnius, 04.02.2014.Print version
According to President of the Lithuanian National Carrier Association (Linava) Algimantas Kondrusevicius, the restrictions on the fuel import in the towing vehicle's tanks were disadvantageous for Lithuania's carriers. Kondrusevicius highlighted that this was to strengthen the Russian and Belorussian carriers' position, informs LETA/ELTA.

On Monday, Kondrusevicius met with deputy minister Vladislavas Kondratovicius and Chancellor of the Government Alminas Maciulis.

Kondratovicius presented the arguments which demonstrated that such a decision was to reduce the competitiveness of the Lithuania's carriers and was to weaken our position in the international markets.

"The inter-government agreements with Russia and Belarus say that their carriers can enter Lithuania with full fuel tanks. As far as I know, no one is planning to revise the inter-governmental agreements. It would mean that there is an aspiration to restrict the fuel import for Lithuanian and the European Union's (EU) carriers. We categorically disagree with such a decision discriminating our business," said Kondratovicius.

According to the deputy minister, the Ministry of transport and Communications had already stated that it did not support such Government's plans and that it was to keep its position.
