Print versionIn the coming summer 2014 the reconstruction of the road Via Baltica (E67) is planned to begin, informs LETA/ELTA.

Road section from the Lithuanian-Polish border to Kaunas City should be gradually transformed into four-lane highway.
"From the funds of new (EU financial – ELTA) period we are planning to enlarge separate sections or the section from the border to Kaunas of the current road Via Baltica to four lanes," said Minister of Transport and Communications Rimantas Sinkevicius.
As reported, in June, 2013 Via Baltica and the East-West Transport Corridors projects were granted the status of special national importance.
The reconstruction project of 34 km of road Via Baltica between Kaunas and Marijampole has been entitled as a priority for some time; however, lack of funding has prevented its implementation.
