"Amorella" ferry ship makes it to port overnight

The Turku-Stockholm Viking Line ferry ship "Amorella", that ran aground Saturday off the Aland Islands, reached Marienhamnn port at 1.30 a.m. Sunday, informs LETA, referring to YLE/BLOOMBERG.

All 2,014 passengers and crew members are accounted for and safe, including one Latvian citizen.

 

Two "Viking" ships – "Rosella" and "Grace" will be taking on passengers today, who need to get to Stockholm or Turku.

 

As reported, on Saturday afternoon the passenger ferry M/S Amorella ran aground in the Åland Islands while attempting to reach the Långnäs harbour.

 

According to Viking Line the hull of the ship lightly scraped the seabed and ran onto rocks around 12.40pm on Saturday. The vessel had been affected by electrical problems prior to the incident.

 

The ship was carrying 1,945 passengers at the time, but according to the operator they were not in any danger and were served food and drink onboard.
