With the greatest winter holidays approaching, when mail volumes in the postal service increase worldwide, Lithuania Post encourages to submit data on declarable items on the website of Lithuania Post. The documents submitted through a special program enable to declare items much faster, informs BC post’s press service.

Director of Postal Operations Division Robertas Gudavicius said:

“During holiday season when workloads increase considerably at post offices, data submitted online make our work easier and speed up handing out of items. When necessary documents on items are submitted online, 99% of items are submitted for customs within 3 hours of data receipt.”

Presently, 30-40% of addressees submit data for customs declaration online on the website of Lithuania Post. According to Mr Gudavičius, this number is expected to reach 80% in the years to come.

Data on items for declaration can be submitted by e-mail [email protected]. Data submitted by e-mail are processed within 12 hours.

In case the data have been submitted via the special system of Lithuania Post, the addressee can see the status of his/her item: the addressee is regularly informed by e-mail on the item’s submission to the customs and successful declaration.

To submit documents for customs declaration online, one should enter the item number into the item search field available on the website of Lithuania Post. The system will automatically show data on the item in question. Also, if needed, the system will inform the addressee what additional information is to be submitted.

The system will show a table to be completed in order to declare the item successfully. The system will not process the data if part of information is missing or some fields have been skipped. Mr Gudavicius has stressed that in case the addressee has no the requested document he/she should clearly indicate this by making a relevant record in the system with comment “The document unavailable”.

The documents necessary for customs declaration can be submitted to the declarants of Lithuania Post by other means such as fax, e-mail, or to the address of Mail Sorting Department located at Rodūnios kelias 9, Vilnius.
