Railway ticket offices commence sale and recharge of e-tickets in Riga

BC, Riga, 26.08.2013.Print version
Starting from today, Pasazieru vilciens (Passenger Train) ticket offices in Riga and the vicinity of Riga sell and recharge e-tickets, the company informed LETA/Nozare.lv.

At the moment, e-tickets can be used in Riga's buses, trolley buses and trams, but not yet in trains.

E-tickets can be purchased and recharged at 28 Pasazieru vilciens ticket offices – Riga, Zasulauks, Zolitude, Imanta, Zemitani, Tornakalns, "Turiba", Tiraine, Janavarti, Skirotava, Brasa, Sarkandaugava, Mangali and Ziemelblazma stations. The service is also available outside Riga – at Olaine, Jelgava, Ogre, Salaspils and Carnikava stations.

Pasazieru vilciens selling and recharging e-tickets is another step toward integrating trains in Riga public transportation. Those passengers who have discounts in Riga public transportation will be able to use e-tickets in trains from October, the rest – a bit later.

As reported, only a few technicalities remain for e-tickets to be introduced in trains in Riga in October, Pasazieru vilciens, Riga City Council and Road Transport Administration officials said on August 12 upon signing a cooperation agreement allowing Riga residents to enjoy the same advantages in trains as in Riga buses, trolley buses and trams.
