Bus collides with two vehicles on Liepaja Highway; 11 persons injured

The State Police informs that the accident took place at around 2:20 p.m. today, and involved three vehicles. A passenger bus and a automobile had stopped at a traffic lights, when a cargo truck with a ''Cemex'' logo smashed into the bus from behind. The bus then hit the automobile in front of it.
A total of 26 persons were involved in the accident - 24 bus passengers and two drivers of the other vehicles, Emergency Medical Services representative Inga Vitola told LETA.
A total of 11 persons were taken to hospital with various injuries. Three persons are in serious condition. Rescuers received a call to the scene at 2:21 p.m., with six medical brigades arriving at the scene.
Traffic on this section of the Liepaja Highway remains blocked at the moment.
Police are at the scene to find out the circumstances of the accident.
