Vehicles can go on ice on Lake Peipsi in Estonia

Print versionStarting Wednesday, people are allowed to go on the ice of Lakes Peipsi, Pihkva and Lämmijärv with ATVs, cars and tractors in the areas of Jõgeva, Tartu and Põlva counties, LETA/Public Broadcasting reports.

When going on the lakes with vehicles, people have to register their trip in the nearest border guard station. For lakes Pihkva and Lämmijärv, one always has to registered, for Lake Peipsi when the plan is to go further than 1 km from the shore.
The lakes are immensely popular among ice-fishermen.
