Today, the shareholders of the Riga International Airport appointed Aldis Murnieks as the airport's CEO, the Transport Ministry informed Nozare.lv.

The Transport Ministry emphasizes that Murnieks, previously a member of the airport's board, has considerable experience in running the airport and professional knowledge of the aviation industry, writes LETA.

It was also decided to reduce the number of board members from six to five. The airport will not seek a replacement for Murnieks as the board's member. Other board members – Andis Damlics, Kaspars Ozolins, Ilona Lice and Antra Duntava – will continue in their positions.

As reported, the shareholders of Riga International Airport decided on October 19 to release its former CEO Arnis Luhse, temporarily replacing him with Murnieks.

Back then, the Transport Ministry explained that Murnieks had been chosen as the airport's acting CEO due to his experience at both Riga and Liepaja airports.

Murnieks told Nozare.lv that the airport would continue operations in compliance with its priorities – cooperation with the national airline airBaltic, successful implementation of the airport's reconstruction project and attraction of new destinations.
