Avies may take over flights between Tallinn and Tartu

Print versionAlthough Estonian national carrier Estonian Air will stop flights on the Tallinn-Tartu route, the air traffic between Estonia's two largest cities might not stop as Avies could take over, LETA/Postimees writes.

"Our company has shown initiative for several times earlier already. But since Estonian Air has flown there, it hasn’t happened because of obstacles," said CEO of Avies Allan Soll.
Soll said that a plane not bigger than 19 seats is needed for the Tallinn-Tartu route. "We fly between large towns in Sweden and see the occupancy rates," he said.
Avies' representative said that they have had contacts from Tartu city government and businessmen of Tartu and hopefully an agreement will be reached.
Currently Avies services the Tallinn–Kuressaare and Tallinn–Kärdla routes and three routes in Sweden.
