Popularity of luxury cars falls in Estonia in January-August

Three new luxury cars were sold in Estonia in August 2012; however, overall sales of cars grew by 8% in August year-on-year, the Estonian news portal BBN reported. About a third of all new car sales are small medium class.

According to dealers, high fuel cost and economic uncertainty means that buyers are increasingly choosing affordable and fuel-efficient cars over SUVs, writes LETA.

 

A new poll made by Faktum & Ariko showed that 42% of respondents have been thinking about buying a more fuel-efficient car in the future.

 

Amserv sold 35% of diesel cars, as compared to 28% of the overall sales last month.


As reported, the Estonian Car Sales and Servicing Companies Union (AMTEL) data indicates that 1,423 new cars were sold by its member dealerships in Estonia in August, which is by 8% more than a year ago.

 

Last month, 220 new utility vehicles were also sold.

 

The most popular car brand was in August was Toyota with 203 cars, followed by Škoda (139) and Volkswagen (134).

 

In July, Toyota was the most successful car producer among Estonian consumers.

 

A total of 209 different Toyota models were sold in Estonia in July. Ranking after it were Volkswagen, Skoda and Peugeot.
