In 2011, over the three quarters, the Klaipeda port’s strategic plan was covered in 80%; this means that out of 13.54 million litas, 110.982 million litas were used, as the sea news portal Jura reports.

"This is a very good result. We never reached such a high level before. We did not use the remaining money because we saved when organizing competitions. In addition, we did not receive EU funding, which we were not able to assimilate," commented the Director of Infrastructure and Development in the Port Authority Roma Museckiene.

According to her, construction of Klaipeda passenger and cargo terminal pier is going well, writes LETA.

However, not all the constructions works are going as expected.

This year the Klaipeda Seaport has had no large tenders. One of the last major competition was for the construction of port’s southern shipping channel and the deepening of turning circle up to 14,5 meters. The competition was won by the Dutch company Van Oord Dredging and Marine Contractors BV. The contracts have already been signed with this company.

Klaipeda Port's management pointed out that there were no legal claims related to agreements made by the ports, or construction works carried out there this year.
