European seafarers in UK to earn as the British seafarers

Print versionThe Lithuanian seafarers' union Nautilus International announced that the seafarers from all over the European Union will be paid by the British government wages equal to the British seafarers, the Lithuanian sea news portal Jura reports.

If a ship with the British flag has sailors from Lithuania working on it, from this month onwards they should be paid a higher salary, writes LETA/ELTA.
It is predicted that the number of vessels flying the British flag may decrease.
Nautilus International representatives expressed regret that after long considerations, even after completing their studies, the British government has made only a half-step in defending the seafarers' right to receive a normal salary.
