Today, the portal Pietiek.com turned to Prosecutor General Eriks Kalnmeiers, requesting to assess several officials', including Latvian Transport Minister Uldis Augulis (Union of Greens and Farmers) and Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis (Unity), actions regarding the national airline airBaltic.

Eriks Kalnmeiers.

Pietiek.com urges the Prosecutor General's Office to launch a criminal process on the officials' failure to act against airBaltic’s Council Chairwoman Santa Glazniece and Transport Ministry's State Secretary Anrijs Matiss.

The portal also requests assessing Augulis and Dombrovskis' failure to act and airBaltic President Bertolt Flick's actions, informs LETA.

"Pietiek.com" turns to Kalnmeiers in regard to Flick's letter, which became available to the public on September 14 and was addressed to Kalnmeiers, the Corruption Prevention Bureau, Augulis and Dombrovskis. The letter, possibly, indicates about the officials failure to act, states the portal.

According to the letter, on August 25-26, the airline's board received information that airBaltic could cease its operations if its debts are not paid until September 2.

Matiss and Glazniece were informed about the airline's debts on August 27.

The portal emphasizes that both – the letter and publicly available information, indicate that Matiss and Glazniece did not carry out any measures to solve the situation. Therefore their actions were irresponsible and led airBaltic to the edge of insolvency.
