The airport's turnover last year was almost the same as in 2009: LVL 22.7 million and LVL 22.84 million respectively.
Last month, the airport announced that it had a profit of LVL 500,000 in the first quarter, compared with a loss of LVL 15,000 in the first quarter of 2009.
The airport's CEO Arnis Luhse said that the profit in the first quarter was achieved thanks to optimization of costs. Luhse was appointed Riga Airport's CEO last December, replacing Krisjanis Peters (Latvia's First Party/Latvia's Way).
As reported, at the beginning of this month Riga Regional Court approved a settlement between the Riga Airport and national airline airBaltic over the collection of a LVL 3.42 million debt.
airBaltic has agreed to pay its debt to the airport plus a contractual penalty – LVL 7.15 million altogether – according to a schedule approved by both sides.
