BLRT hopes to restore the burnt Lisco Gloria

On Tuesday the passenger ferry Lisco Gloria that was partly destroyed in a fire in the Baltic Sea was transported from Odsense port to Klaipeda port after Estonian BLRT concern’s company Vakaru Refonda acquired it from Danish shipping company DFDS, LETA/Delfi reports.

“First we will make an expert analysis of whether it is possible to restore the ferry,” said Vakaru Refonda’s manager Viktor Sagal. “If experts estimate that there is no point in restoring it, then we will sell parts and equipment suitable for reuse, and we will utilise the hull as scrap metal,” said Sagal, adding that the ferry was not transported to Tallinn because the size of BLRT’s docks here was not suitable or it.

“Ferry Lisco Gloria is the biggest ship that our company might have to utilise in the more than 10 years of our history,” Sagal said.

Vakaru Refonda is part of Estonian ship-building concern BLRT Grupp.

The Lisco Gloria ferry had a fire in October 20110 when it was on its way from Kiel to Klaipeda.
