Riga port closed; Tallink ferry sets sail regardless

High winds in February 8 evening in Riga and raised water level in the Daugava with choppy waves, have forced Riga port to shut down temporarily. However, the Tallink ferry ship departed to Stockholm in evening as scheduled.

The port is closed since 3.30 p.m. due to stormy conditions.

 

The gale-force gusts expected at 25-28 m/s in Riga, moved on to Russia overnight. It will still be windy today, however, with gusts at 15-18 m/s, informs LETA.
