Transport Ministry, which represents the state as a shareholder on the state-owned joint-stock railroad company Latvijas dzelzcels (Latvian railroad) board, has replaced the company's procurement manager and board member Andris Steinbriks with Armins Kronbergs, a person closely affiliated with Ventspils enterprises, the company informed the business portal Nozare.lv.

Steinbriks was replaced because his contract expired and the Transport Ministry decided not to extend it, writes LETA.

LDz said that Kronbergs had significant experience in transit business and logistics as well as in port operations, which is of particular importance in improving competitiveness of Latvia as a transit corridor and for the development of the freight transport business.

Kronbergs is director of Tug Services and board member and director at Amberholdings Liepaja.

Kronbergs began to work on LDz board on October 6.

LDz board also includes Chairman Ugis Magonis and members Edvins Kocans, Eriks Smuksts and Aivars Straksas.

In the ranking of 101 most valuable companies of Latvia made by the business magazine "Kapitals", "IBS Prudentia" and "NASDAW OMX Riga" in 2009, LDz was ranked fourth with a value of LVL 327.06 million.
