Juhan Tere, BC, Tallinn, 09.07.2010.Print version
SmartPOST concluded a purchase and sales agreement with the Finnish logistics enterprise Itella Corporation to sell the latter its network of parcel post automats in Estonia, writes LETA with reference to Äripäev.ee.

SmartPOST is planning in the future to focus on its core business – on developing software and hardware solutions for comprehensive solutions of parcel automats and on selling them for exports.

Itella will become the owner of the network of parcel post automats that has been established in Estonia in the past two years – the buyer will also get the rights to use SmartPOST’s brand in Estonia. The employees of SmartPOST who are involved in providing the services of parcel automats will continue their work under Itella and the buyer will continue providing the services of the network of the parcel automats in Estonia through its enterprise OÜ Itella SmartPOST.

Peep Kuld, a member of the supervisory board of SmartPOST stated that the management of the company has fulfilled its primary objective and has proven in Estonia that their business idea can be developed into a success.

“Abandoning the provision of logistics services and focussing on exports is a planned step for us,” he said. Kuld added that SmartPOST has already concluded contracts for producing at least a hundred parcel automats for a customer in Russia and negotiations are being held with enterprises from a number of European countries.
