North Hub Services will provide a full range of services at the airport, including administration and management, passenger service, and baggage handling, as well as ramp, runway and aircraft servicing operations. With this, two competing companies will now operate at Riga International Airport – North Hub Services and Starptautiska lidosta Riga, informs LETA.
Until the end of last year, the full range of services at the airport was provided by Starptautiska lidosta Riga; however, according to EU regulations adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers, airports which service over two million passengers a year must open up the market and allow at least one competitor to enter the airport's ground handling services sector.
North Hub Services has so far invested around LVL one million in technical equipment and vehicles for its operations, as initially the company was only involved in providing passenger services within the terminal.
