airBaltic to launch flights from Riga to Frankfurt and Warsaw

The Latvian national airline airBaltic will launch nonstop flights from Riga to Frankfurt, Germany, on September 17 of this year. This is the sixth nonstop destination for airBaltic in Germany. airBaltic will launch nonstop flights from Riga to Warsaw, Poland ,too. This will ensure convenient transit links to and from final destinations in Scandinavia, the CIS, the Caucasus and the Middle East, informed BC Janis Vanags.

Tero Taskila, the Chief Commercial Officer of airBaltic: “We’re delighted to expand the airBaltic network of routes with Europe’s financial capital, Frankfurt. This new route will ensure convenient connections to final destinations in Scandinavia, the CIS, the Caucasus, and the Middle East.”

 

airBaltic will offer nonstop flights from Riga to Frankfurt on a daily basis – seven flights per week in total. Passengers will fly on a Boeing 737 airplane for a flight that will last for 2 hours and 15 minutes. One-way ticket prices will start at LVL 27 (EUR 38), including airport and transaction fees. Frankfurt is Germany’s fifth largest city, and for centuries it has been the country’s political, trade and financial centre. The European Central Bank is headquartered in Frankfurt, as are German’s largest commercial banks. The Frankfurt Stock Exchange is Germany’s largest exchange, and one of the largest exchanges in the world. Frankfurt hosts many global exhibitions and trade fairs each year, including the world’s largest auto show, book fair and music fair. Frankfurt is also the birthplace of Johann von Goethe and the Rothschild dynasty.

 

Flights from Riga to Warsaw will be offered every day. Passengers will fly on a Fokker 50 aircraft, and the flight will last for one hour and 40 minutes. One-way ticket prices will start at LVL 27 (EUR 38), including airport and transaction fees.

Other destinations which airBaltic has started offering from Riga this year include Turku (Finland), Tromsø (Norway), Palanga and Kaunas (Lithuania), Tartu (Estonia), Pskov (Russia), Geneva (Switzerland), and Dushanbe (Tajikistan), and Frankfurt (Germany).

 

Warsaw is the capital city of Poland and the country’s economic, scientific and cultural centre. It is sited on the two banks of the Vistula River. Warsaw is known as a city, which rose from the ashes after complete destruction during World War II. The Warsaw old town is listed on the UNESCO list of global cultural heritage, and it contains the royal castle and several cathedrals. Tourists can also visit the beautiful Lazienki park, where the last king of Poland had his summer residence.
