SEB Bankas tops year's 2009 ranking of the most desirable employers in Lithuania, placing well ahead of the runner-up – the mobile communications company Omnitel, a poll conducted by the business daily Verslo Zinios and the job search site Cv.lt has shown.

Bite Lietuva, another mobile operator, ranked third.

SEB Bankas is at the top of the list for the third time, after 2005 and 2007. Both company executives and unemployed respondents this year put the bank back to first place, up from third place last year, Verslo Zinios wrote on Monday.

Omnitel, which rose to second place this year from fifth in 2008, and Bite Lietuva, up from seventh place, were well behind SEB Bankas. Nordea Bank Lietuva moved up to fourth place from sixth, and the telecom company Leo LT jumped to fifth position from twelfth.

Last year's two top ranking employers – Swedbank, formerly Hansabankas, and the brewery Svyturys-Utenos Alus – this year dropped six places each to rank 7th and 8th, respectively.

Some 1,500 people were polled, and 560 companies were named among desirable employers.
