Parts: investments in Estonian economy are important

BBN quoted Aripaev.ee: Estonian Minister for Economic Affairs and Communications Juhan Parts highlighted the importance of investments in Estonian economy after the information surfaced that the Finnish energy company Vapo might choose Estonia as the location for building of a large bio diesel plant, informs LETA.

At the same time, Parts admitted that he heard about Vapo's plan for the first time. "Nobody has contacted the ministry directly," he said.

 

Parts assured that the ministry is trying to encourage such foreign investments: "If they needed any kind of support then there are things that the government can offer from our side".

 

Parts added that since he is going to be at the annual Estonia Day in Helsinki tomorrow, then he might get a chance to enquire about Vapo's plans. "I'm going to have several work-related meetings in Helsinki and I’m also participating at a conference that deals with the economic situation both here and over the Finnish Gulf," said Parts.

 

Kauppalehti wrote that Vapo is planning to build a 500 billion kroon bio diesel plant and that one of the locations under consideration is Estonia.
