The locomotive will run from the port's railway station to stevedoring companies, with plans to extend the distance in the future.
Thursday also marks signature of an agreement on creation of a smart LNG transporting container. The first LNG containers developed in Lithuania should be ready and launched before the end of 2017. They will be built by one of Lithuania's largest engineering companies, Vakaru Laivu Gamykla (Western Shipyard, or VLG ), US corporation Emerson and Norway's DNV-GL.
