BC, Riga, 23.11.2016.Print version
The last ferry from Latvia’s southwestern Liepaja port to Nynashamn in Sweden will leave on November 28, Jurijs Solovjovs, the director of Terrabalt stevedore, said in an interview with Rietumu Radio on Wednesday reports LETA.

Terrabalt provides services to Stena Line ferries that arrive in Liepaja.

Liepaja will continue to run a ferry to Travemunde in Germany four times a week instead of the current schedule of two times a week. The ferry to Nynashamn will leave from northwestern Ventspils port in the future. A decision has been made that Liepaja will operate ferries to Germany, and Ventspils will operate ferries to Scandinavia.

Stena Line ferry company so far refrained from any comments.

Liepaja Special Economic Zone’s spokeswoman Liga Ratniece-Kadege promised to comment on this decision in the nearest time.

As reported, Liepaja Sepcial Economic Zone representative Uldis Hmielevskis during his working visit to Germany signed a cooperation agreement with Lubecker Hafen-Gesellschaft port operator and discussed cooperation opportunities with Duisburg port in Germany.
