New acting CEO of LDz has substantial debts of over EUR 233,000

According to his annual income declaration, the newly appointed acting CEO of the Latvian national railroad company Latvijas Dzelzcels (Latvian Rail, LDz) Aivars Straksas has substantial debts of EUR 233,100, informs LETA.

The new head of LDz also has savings of EUR 32,995, as well as owns land in Drabesi and Anna countries, as well as land and an apartment in Sigulda.

 

Furthermore, Straksas earned a EUR 89,108 salary working at LDz last year.

 

As reported, LDz CEO Ugis Magonis, who has been detained by the Corruption Prevention Bureau, was released from his job today.

 

Latvijas Dzelzcels board member and the company's vice-president Aivars Straksas has been appointed acting CEO at the company, as the Transport Ministry's Deputy State Secretary Dzineta Innusa told reporters today.

 

According to Innusa, the board of Latvijas Dzelzcels will now include three members, and the board's work has not been hampered by the detention of Magonis.

 

LETA also reported, the Corruption Prevention Bureau's officers detained Magonis last night. The bureau has not yet commented on the development.
