The first fully functional speed cameras began work today on the Riga-Jelgava Highway, as well as on the Riga-Koknese road.
According to the Road Traffic Safety Directorate, the stationary speed cameras can already be seen as a success, as the speed cameras which are currently operating in test mode have already demonstrated results, as the number of speeding cases has decreased on several roads in Latvia.
As reported, a total of 16 stationary speed cameras will become fully operational this February.
A map featuring locations of all speed cameras is available here.
