Riga City Council approves new public transport fares from February 1

BC, Riga, 19.01.2015.Print version
The Riga City Council on January 16th, 2015, approved the proposal to set the public transport fare in the city at EUR 1.15 from February 1, reports LETA.

Nine members of the opposition did not participate in the vote, saying the motion was poorly thought-out and they needed more information about the situation at the municipal transport company Rigas satiksme.

According to the Riga City Council's decision, the previous 50% discount that applied to all residents of Riga (who carry a special document confirming this) will be cancelled, and from February 1 tickets will cost EUR 1.15 for all.

The other discounts – for pensioners, schoolchildren and persons with disabilities – will remain unchanged.
