Starting February 15, 2015, the Go Rail passenger train on the Tallinn-St Petersburg route will travel just twice a week instead of the earlier daily service, LETA/Postimees Online reports.

Train No. 812/811 departs from Tallinn at 15:27 on Fridays and Sundays and arrives in St. Petersburg at 23:05. The train departs from St Petersburg 6:55 on Saturdays and Mondays and arrives in Tallinn at 12:30.

The daily trips on the Tallinn- Petersburg route are suspended temporarily because of the decrease of the number of passengers due to the economic and political situation, said Go Rail Development Director Jolan Shevtsov.

"The fall of the rouble exchange rate has significantly affected by the number of tourists travelling from Russia to Estonia. Since operating railway rolling stock is also associated with high costs, optimization of the trips is in the current situation the only possible solution. St Petersburg train will be in use on higher demand days," explained Shevtsov.
