A Marriott Hotel will be built in the Latvian capital based on Estonian architectural company's Arhitektuuriburoo Pluss Ou draft, as the project's co-partner Arhiidea reported to the Latvian business information portal Nozare.lv.

Three applications were evaluated by the tender organizers at the final stage, and the Estonian team was granted the right to take on the project. Initially 17 drafts were submitted on announcement of the tender in the beginning of the summer, but none of them corresponded to the contractors demands. The organizers have chosen three more or less suitable offers – from two Latvian architects' teams and one foreign group of specialists. Finally, Arhitektuuriburoo Pluss Ou was considered to be the most appropriate for execution of the project, informs LETA.

"Estonian solution provides impressive and expressional architectonic language, integrated into the outline of the Old Town in balance with valuable surrounding architecture. The chosen Estonian specialists have shown higher degree of professionalism, capacity and expertise in development of hotels; moreover, they are well-known in the rest of Europe," said Arhiidea Chairman of the Board and chairman of the tender jury Eriks Grube.

The brand Marriott is represented by a Latvia-based limited liability company Arhiidea and Scandinavian Skandinavian Hospitality Group.

"The project is already in design stage, and we hope that the building works will start in 2011; the project developer has already reached the agreement with international hotels operator Marriott International over management of the hotel," Grube pointed out.

Arhiidea represents developers of the hotel construction project and provides consulting services in pre-design, design and construction.
