Minister of the Interior Dalis Alfonsas Barakauskas says that the construction of the stadium will be funded by the European Union (EU) money.

"The funds are practically provided. We have estimated that the stadium construction will account for about 1 percent of all the money that will be received from the EU, thus none of the social groups will suffer from the construction of the national stadium", says the minister.

Barakauskas says that not only the stadium will be used for sports events but also for various national events.

The minister also points out that after the construction of the stadium property agreement will be signed between the Ministry of the Interior and Vilnius City Municipality, which will be the actual owner of the stadium.
