Lithuanians could buy rural house, save 6 annual wages for a Vilnius apartment price

Print versionIf a Lithuanian sold their apartment in the country's capital city, they could buy a house in the province and save a sum of money equal to 6 years wages, real estate ad website domoplius.lt estimates, informs LETA/ELTA.

An average price for an apartment in Vilnius amounts to LTL 280,000 (EUR 81,000), while a house in Salcininkai district, 40 kms from the capital, costs around LTL 94,000 (EUR 27,000), domoplius.lt says.
"If someone traded their apartment in Vilnius for a house in the province, for instance, in Salcininkai district, they would have some extra LTL 186,000 (EUR 54,000) left from the price difference. They could enjoy an average wage of a Vilnius resident – LTL 2,500 (EUR 725) per month for 6 years from this money. If a person is satisfied with an average wage of a Salcininkai district resident (LTL 1,500/EUR 435) they could live without working for a decade," head of domoplius.lt Evaldas Narbuntovicius says.
